Now Forming Fall League Teams!

The Fall League is just around the corner! We’ll start Fall League play on Sunday September 8, 2019. Come on by the clubhouse and submit the form for your three person team. The team registration fee is $24 ($8 per player) and is non-refundable. All registration fees are used for cash prizes at the end of the league season. Depending on the number of teams registered, we anticipate the Fall League running through mid to late November.

League Play

  1. Teams are made up of three players.

  2. A schedule of matches will be posted prior to week one. Each team will play each other team at least once during the league season. Teams have one week (Sunday to Saturday) to play and post their scores. Before you play, get a scorecard and tell the clubhouse attendant you are playing your league round.

  3. League rounds for non-members are $8.00.

  4. The format is Captain’s Choice. Each player’s drive must be used at least once during each league round.

  5. At the end of your round, sign and turn-in your scorecard.

League standings are posted in the clubhouse and on the Brookside web site.

Spring is Coming!

Good afternoon everyone! It has been a while since we have posted any news, but due to the weather and season there hasn’t been much to let you know about but now…

We have posted details of the 2019 Spring Captain’s Choice League on our Events page so go check them out!

We are busy preparing the course for another fun season! We will be aerating the greens with solid tines again this Spring and will let you know the exact date when we have it scheduled.

Over the Winter we did install a FootGolf course here so if golf isn’t your game but you like soccer you need to come by. It’s basically golf but with soccer balls and larger holes! We have a link at the top to the rules and such if you are interested in seeing what it’s about!

We are accepting Hole/Tee Box Sponsorships so give us a call or stop by for more details!

2019 is going to be a fantastic year!

Happy New Year!

As we begin a new year, we would like to reflect on happenings from 2018…

  • After 20 years of running Brookside, Milton decided to take a step back and be “semi-retired”. His “semi-retirement” puts 90% of us to shame! Milton has covered the clubhouse part time, beat the streets looking for donations for our Annual Archie Goode Memorial tournament, he is always there when we have questions no matter what time of day, and he has been playing a lot more golf!

  • Kenny (Milton’s brother-in-law), who Milton has been leasing the land from, took over the business and named Tony as Manager.

  • We have taken what Milton has been doing for the last 20 years and continued to do it to try to make the transition as seamless as possible, and have tried to add to it!

  • Started a tree project. We cut trees above and around the number six tee box, both sides of the fairway on six, as well as behind the number six green to try to open up the fairway and allow some air to get to the green so that we do not have as much trouble with keeping the green dry and healthy. We also cut trees between the tee box and the green on number seven to make the tee shots not as intimidating and to allow for sunlight to get to the green. We cut around number eight green so that tree limbs were not hanging over the green. The tee shot from number nine was also made a little easier because some of the trees were cut at the creek.

  • Began to start cleaning out around and in the creek throughout the course.

  • Partnered with GolfStatus which is a free smartphone app that has many applications to help with your golf game and gives away many prizes just for checking in at any golf course in the United States. As a matter of fact, one of our members won a foursome with carts and a private meeting room at Ballyhack!

  • Got rid of the Coke machine that was on the patio and replaced it with a Gatorade machine so now we have two drink machines that take cards as well as touchless methods of payment (Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc).

  • Held the 5th Annual Archie Goode Memorial Tournament and raised over $3700 for The First Tee of Roanoke program!

  • Held a Glow Ball Tournament. We hope to have at least two this season!

  • Started up Captain’s Choice Leagues and they have been a huge success! As a matter of fact we had only planned on having them in the Spring, Summer, and Fall but we had so many requests that we decided to go ahead and have one this Winter too!

  • Renovated the men’s restroom and opened a women’s restroom!

  • Took out some of the bushes that were around the clubhouse because they had gotten so overgrown.

  • Built a FootGolf course to add to what we offer.

  • Rebuilt the website and made it less static and more user friendly.

  • Recently purchased a “walk behind” greens mower that should allow us to be more meticulous and it will be gentler on the greens.

  • Now on Twitter and Instagram. Follow us!

  • Installed a new point of sale system in the clubhouse that allowed us to take contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc) as well.

  • Aerated all the greens twice, overseeded, and fertilized them so that they come back stronger than ever in the Spring!

2018 was an exciting year with ups and downs (weather!) but we are excited to start a new year! We look forward to seeing everyone and continuing to improve your play here at Brookside Par 3!!! Come see us soon and bring a friend!

League, FootGolf, and Holiday Information

Good afternoon everyone! Hope everyone has remained safe during our first winter storm of the season! A couple of things to let everyone know about today:

  • Winter League - Well the weather has done it to us again and from the forecast it looks like it’s not going to let up for the next few days. We need to know what you folks want to do. A couple of ideas:

We could just bump everything back a week but that would put both weeks of the playoffs during holiday weeks (Christmas and New Years).

We could just say that everyone has until January 5th to play their rounds and get caught up and have the playoffs the following two weeks.

Or we could do something entirely different. Please call Tony at the clubhouse (540-366-6059) sometime over the weekend and either let him know which idea you like best or tell him any ideas that you may have. It is your league and we want to be fair to everyone and do what’s best for the league.

  • FootGolf - Obviously the weather has put a damper on progress. That being said, all the holes are dug and cups placed, tee markers are made but not installed (but will be when the snow melts), so we hope to have it open soon!

  • Holiday Season - We are available for holiday gift giving! In addition to Gift Cards, Bonus Cards, Memberships, Golf Gloves, New Golf Balls we may be able to special order golf accessories at greatly discounted prices compared to normal retail outlets! We have good relationships with several companies so stop by to see what we can work out for you or give Tony a call (540-366-6059) to see if he can find you what you need!

Good afternoon! As everyone prepares for some weather tomorrow, we wanted to take this opportunity to update everyone on things that are happening here at Brookside:

  • FootGolf - The FootGolf course is coming along and we expect to put the finishing touches on everything this coming week so it should be ready for play by next weekend! We will be applying most of the same rules as regular golf (Play one ball only, allow faster players to play through, no alcoholic beverages allowed, shirt and shoes required at all times, in case of lightning leave course immediately and seek shelter, and children 14 and under should have adult supervision for their safety, etc) but will have a few new ones (No cleats allowed at any time, no kicking from golf greens, The ball must be played in a single movement, you are not allowed to push the ball with the top or bottom of your foot, etc) that will be posted here and in the clubhouse. We are excited about this new venture and know that it will add another feature that we can offer!

  • Gifts - With this being the holiday season, everyone is selling gift carts/certificates and we are no exception. They are available in our clubhouse (for any dollar amount) and on this site in our store (set amounts). We also have Bonus Cards (buy six rounds, get two free!) and memberships that can be purchased either in person in our clubhouse or in the store on our website.

  • Hours - Last tee off is around 6:00pm through the month of December but if the weather permits and you want to tee off later and play under the lights, give us a call and we will be happy to make arrangements for you!

  • Winter Projects - We are going to continue the tree work that we started this past Summer through the Winter season along with starting to clean up the banks of the creek (trees, brush, etc) as well as take look as what to do about our drainage issues

We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday season, and thank you for your support now and in the future!
